Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

  1. Publication and Authorship Ethics
  • Manuscripts submitted must be original work, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Authors must ensure the accuracy of their work, avoid plagiarism, and cite all sources appropriately.
  • All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the study; all other contributors should be acknowledged.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest at the time of submission.
  • The journal encourages transparency regarding funding sources and financial support.
  1. Peer Review and Editorial Process
  • BJVM follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process (unless otherwise stated) to ensure unbiased evaluation.
  • Editors and reviewers must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not use information obtained for personal advantage.
  • Editors make final decisions on acceptance or rejection based on reviewer recommendations and journal policies.
  • The journal also monitors for potential peer-review manipulation or unethical practices.
  1. Handling Misconduct

BJVM treats allegations of publication misconduct seriously. Misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Fabrication or falsification of data
  • Duplicate publication
  • Authorship disputes
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Manipulation of the peer review process

Allegations will be investigated promptly. Confirmed cases may result in rejection, correction, or retraction, in line with COPE guidelines.

  1. Retractions, Corrections, and Expressions of Concern
  • Retractions: Issued in cases of confirmed misconduct or serious errors affecting validity.
  • Corrections: Published for minor errors that do not invalidate research but require clarification.
  • Expressions of Concern: Issued when concerns exist but investigations are ongoing.

All retractions, corrections, and expressions of concern are clearly marked and linked to the original article.

  1. Conflicts of Interest

All participants in the publication process (authors, reviewers, editors) must disclose potential conflicts of interest that could influence decisions or assessments. Disclosures are published alongside the article.

  1. Complaints and Appeals
  • Authors and reviewers may raise concerns about the editorial process.
  • Complaints or appeals should be directed to the editorial office at [arahman_med@bau.edu.bd] and will be addressed promptly according to the journal’s complaints procedure.
  1. Ethical Guidelines for Research
  • Research involving humans or animals must comply with relevant ethical standards, including institutional ethics approvals and informed consent where applicable.
  • Authors are expected to follow international guidelines, including:
    • Declaration of Helsinki for human research
    • ARRIVE Guidelines for animal research
  1. Use of AI in Scholarly Publishing
  • BJVM requires authors to disclose any use of AI tools in writing, data analysis, or figure preparation.
  • Editors and reviewers may use AI tools to assist in screening or assessment but will maintain transparency and ethical oversight.
